Anthony Downer II is an abolitionist educator-organizer, curriculum developer, educational consultant, policy strategist, public speaker, racial equity and justice practitioner, researcher of critical race studies in education, and writer. Anthony serves as Equity Coordinator in City Schools of Decatur. He is also Founder and Lead Learner of Liberation Learning and Vice President of Georgia Educators for Equity and Justice, Inc., and host of the podcast show, dat way: conversations on education and liberation. His activism and scholarship have been featured in/on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, CNN, Decaturish, Good Morning America, Gwinnett Daily Post, NBC, Rethinking Schools, and more. Anthony holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies Education from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago. 

He previously taught high school social studies in Atlanta Public Schools and Gwinnett County Public Schools and worked in civic engagement and community organizations, government offices, and political and grassroots campaigns. Outside of education, Anthony enjoys following shows, social media, and sports. He was raised and resides in Norcross, Georgia.
